The Montalegre Fumeiro Fair returned for its 30th edition in 2021, this time in a fully online format due to the pandemic. A beloved annual tradition in the Barroso region of northern Portugal, the fair celebrates the ancient craft of smoke-curing meats — from chouriço to presunto — passed down through generations. It brings together local producers, food lovers and visitors in a unique showcase of authentic flavour and rural heritage.
